The full length movie is rumored to be opening in Cannes… stay tuned!

From Fuel Fix Since the earliest day of the 2010 Gulf oil spill, many in the environmental community waved red flags over the widespread use of Corexit to disperse the massive oil slicks.

Federal officials gave the OK for widespread use of the chemicals, acknowledging it was a trade-off between the known damages that could come with the oil and the unknown impact of widespread use of the dispersant.

Lawsuits have followed and claims have been made that BP disregarded the EPA’s orders to limit the use of dispersants.

So, now entering the fray is a new documentary by filmmaker James Fox: Pretty Slick. Before the spill, Fox was best known for filming UFOs.

A description of the film from the official web site:

During the summer of 2010, Fox moves among locals across four Gulf states documenting the largest man-made environmental disaster in U.S. history. He flies over ground zero with Marine Biologist Dr. Carl Safina who warns him that BP is sinking the oil with the chemical dispersant Corexit, sweeping it under the rug. He investigates this further and conducts his own independent water tests to determine toxicity levels. The results show that public safety takes a backseat to a tourist-based economy and the symbiosis between big oil and government becomes clear.
